Jihye and Byung’s Editorial Wedding Photos at Metropolitan Building

Jihye and Byung tied the knot at the Metropolitan Building, an old factory transformed into a fantastic wedding venue.  It’s truly a unique venue that is not only fascinatingly photogenic but also comes with a LOT of space, which isn’t easy to come by in New York City.  It is a perfect venue for brides who want a combination of editorial style wedding photos and photojournalists coverage of their ceremony and reception.   Here are the highlight film and photos.  Scroll down to read photographer’s tips for achieving the best Metropolitan Building wedding photos.

Photographer’s tip if you are getting married at Metropolitan Building:

Take time to make use of all available spaces in the building for photos!   The venue really offers tons of photo ops in every direction in all rooms on each floor.  It’s such an unique venue that has a quintessential New York City industrial vibe with brick walls and worn out wooden floors.  Since you’ll be having a “New York City wedding”, so you may get tempted to go outside for photos, but it would add unnecessary travel time that could be used for taking pictures or just enjoying your big day.  Even if you plan on having a church ceremony and want to stop by a couple of iconic locations like DUMBO for photos, it will take so much longer than you’d imagine, because DUMBO and all other popular spots in the area will get packed with tourists and locals on most weekends.   Scroll down to the end to read more.

Wedding ceremony on the second floor of Metropolitan Building:

Once the ceremony processional starts, have an attendant, usher, or a friend clear the waiting area of anyone who’s not part of the group making the entrance.  You do not a guest who arrived late to be lingering in the background of the photo of the bride making her big entrance.

Wedding reception at Metropolitan Building:

The space has a timeless vibe to it, so I recommend that you ask the DJ and MC in advance to tone down on the multicolor DJ lights and laser light shows which could really overpower the natural ambiance the venue has.
